LARO77 Payline Drill: What Is a Payline, and When Is It Ways?

New players stare at the reels; coached players stare at the info screen first. What is a payline? It is the route a win has to travel, and a coach makes you learn the route before the sprint. This lesson sets lines, ways and clusters side by side with real titles, then flags the payline claims that deserve suspicion.
What Is a Payline? Lines, Ways and Clusters Compared
Picture a payline as a route drawn over the grid. Symbols have to match along that route, normally reading from the leftmost reel, before anything is paid. Modern slots often drop fixed lines altogether and pay in other ways.
| Pay structure | How a win forms | Example from the studio’s own data |
|---|---|---|
| Single payline | Symbols match along one line | Crazy 777 and Money Coming, one line each |
| Few fixed lines | A handful of set paths | Fortune Gems 3: 5; Gemini Joker (Betsoft): 5 |
| Many fixed lines | Dozens of set paths | Boxing King: 88 paylines |
| Ways to win | Matches on adjacent reels, any row | Super Ace and Wild Ace: 1024 ways; Mahjong Ways 2: 2,000 ways |
| Megaways | Ways count that changes each spin | Golden Empire: 32400 megaways |
| Cluster or scatter pays | Matches anywhere on the grid | Sweet Bonanza 1000: 8 or more matching symbols anywhere |
The structure changes how wins look, not how much a game is designed to return. That is set by the game’s design, which PG Soft and Pragmatic Play publish as an RTP and JILI does not.
LARO77 paylines: the hot-row titles by structure
The lobby’s HOT GAMES row and phone Hot tab, read on 11 October 2026, included titles from almost every row of the table above:
- Lines: Money Coming, Boxing King, Fortune Gems 3
- Ways: Super Ace, Wild Ace, Lucky Neko
- Megaways: Golden Empire
- Scatter or cluster pays: Gates of Olympus 1000, Sweet Bonanza 1000
Hot rows change, so treat that as a snapshot, not a list of what is always there.
Paylines and your stake: the drill
Do this on any slot before staking real pesos:
- Tap the game’s info or paytable button and read how it pays.
- If it uses lines, count them and check whether they are fixed.
- Trace one winning pattern across the reels.
- Read the smallest and largest total stake the game allows.
Four steps take two minutes. They also show whether a game that looks busy simply has more patterns, not better odds.
Payline Features Worth Reading on the Info Screen
Direction. Most line games pay left to right only. A few pay both ways; the paytable says which.
Wilds on a line. A wild can complete a line. In Super Ace, JILI’s Golden Card turns into a “Golden Joker”.
Ways and multipliers together. Ways games often add multipliers; in Super Ace’s Free Game, JILI runs them at twice the base values.
The casino terms glossary for slot words defines ways, multipliers and max win side by side, and how to choose a slot by pay structure puts this lesson to work.
Red flags to watch for
- “Secret payline” tricks. No hidden line exists outside the paytable; the info screen shows every way a game pays.
- Claims that more lines raise the RTP. The structure does not change a game’s designed return.
- A JILI RTP figure. JILI does not publish one, so a percentage quoted for a JILI line game came from somewhere else.
- A paytable that differs from the studio’s. If line or ways counts on a site do not match the studio’s own page, ask why before playing.
- “Activate all lines to win.” Lines describe patterns; no setting forces a win.
Slot volatility, explained with studio labels is the next lesson, and the LARO77 blog lesson index holds the rest. Phone players should read the LARO77 app checklist before installing.
How to Get Started
-
Open the info screen before spinning
Find the paytable or info button on any slot and read whether it pays on lines, on ways or on clusters before the first spin.
-
Trace one winning pattern
Pick one line or one ways pattern from the paytable and trace it across the reels with your finger until the shape is clear.
-
Check what the stake buys
Read whether the total stake covers every line automatically or whether lines can be switched off, so you know what each spin pays for.
